Get Out of Your Own Way

Postby progster » Sat Jun 28, 2008 5:32 pm

The Wall Street Journal of Friday, June 27, 2008, offers this very interesting article in their SCIENCE JOURNAL section:

Get Out of Your Own Way

It seems the brain may decide upon and prepare for our motor actions far in advance of our conscious awareness.

Not fractions of a second in advance, but rather 5 or even 10 seconds in advance.

Too bad the studies reported on here weren't done with traders taking trades!

The contention has often been made over the years that the best discretionary traders have a "certain something", a sort of intuition or 6th sense about the unfolding-in-realtime market that contributes greatly to their success.

Perhaps the research here provides some insight into this.

Also, the notion of "unconscious sabotage" which is often discussed (e.g. by Van Tharp and others) perhaps picks up some objective credibility in the light of these studies.
