Hi Cidona!
I've moved this topic into the General Information area, at least for now. The overall organization of Topics here at CFT is evolving and somewhat plastic (subject to change) as the real needs of the community become apparent over time.
What differentiates CodeForTraders.com from other reputable web-sites?
As background, let me first point to
Forum Editorial Policy 101.
Expanding on that, here are some more things that can be said:
CFT aims to attract, and attractively publish, substantive information and commentary (and only such), thus creating an accumulating body of helpful information
without all the noise and chaff which can accumulate on unmoderated or poorly-moderated sites.
CFT, with it's code-oriented roots, explicitly recognizes all market-related software authors as valuable tool providers. This includes both those who give away their tools (gotta love 'em!), and those who earn their living (or a portion of it) by creating and selling tools for others to use in their analysis and trading. All developers are first-class citizens here at CFT.
CFT is explicitly a multi-platform site, avoiding the particular problems associated with single-platform sites. No one platform does it all, yet single-platform sites usually follow policies which inhibit multi-platform discussion. While this is understandable, and justifiable even, it leaves a void to be filled from the trader's point-of-view. CFT aims to be a resource for many platforms, and for those who are trying to come to decisions about which platforms/tools would be most helpful to their trading journey.
CFT, by it's existence, creates a publishing home for those who would like to communicate at large but do not want to take on the extra burdens and expense of self-publishing and associated web-site administration.
Also, the CFT Forum is explicitly a networked and cooperative site. Members can link to their own blog sites. Developers can link to their own commerce sites (or offer products here on our
sell side). CFT Forum posters are welcome to refer to and link to other resources on the web. It's OK to "be who you are" at CFT, and that's not true everywhere.
The unique thought direction supported here is platform comparison. Are there other topics which CodeForTraders.com is the most appropriate (not just one of) place to discuss?
The multi-platform aspect is certainly a primary one.
I would add that anyone who prefers to read and write on a respectfully moderated site with a high signal-to-noise ratio might prefer CFT to some of the alternatives.
I also think CFT might become a good home for folks who are "trading educators", whether formally or informally.
The CFT Forum is a growing library, not of people's random daily thoughts, but of trading and trading software information that is specifically presented as worthy of retention for its educational value.
Cheers!
